As mentioned in the video, this scenario happened before, Cisco financed telecom companies, those companies triggered the crash, but Cisco at the end of the day survived, and NVIDIA is looking to be the survivor

AI will also run out of things to learn from. Once you've scanned every book, painting and song you run out of data, and customers can't supply enough new information, and every token costs money.

Is this analogous to a solar company financing the customer's solar panels?

And then China decides to release their Ai models for free, which are just as good and run much cheaper. It all comes crashing down.

The idea that GPUs will be valuably productive long enough to recoup the investment in leased compute is laughable on its face. Nvidia is trying to keep the hype cycle going and/or give it a softer landing now that private money has dried up and the public appetite for IPOs is obviously diminished.

Why do I get the feeling that the handful of billionaires who are forcing this AI experiment on the world will still be billionaires when it collapses while everyone else will lose their entire retirement fund..?

It only works if the comput generates more income than it costs. So ai needs to replace Labour costs and create new revenue streams.

YUP. The company I work for used to run a PC rental division for conventions etc. Our customers demanded the latest and greatest, but we hemmoraged cash by churning through new PCs and laptops at least once a year. We never made enough in a year to pay off the next year's purchases. We shuddered it after a few years of trying.
