⚠️ NEW PENALTIES FOR FOREIGN WORKERS IN VIETNAM Starting September 10, 2026, Vietnam will introduce stricter penalties for foreign worker violations under Decree 283/2026/NĐ-CP. ✅FOREIGN WORKERS Foreigners may be fined 15–25 million VND for: • Working without a required work permit • Working without a required work permit exemption • Continuing to work after a permit or exemption expires Depending on the violation, deportation may also apply. ✅EMPLOYERS Employers may face: • 1–3 million VND for missing, late or incomplete required notifications. • 5–10 million VND per worker if the employee’s position, workplace or working conditions do not match their permit/exemption, or required documents are not returned. Maximum: 75 million VND. • Hiring foreigners without valid permits/exemptions: * 1–10 workers: 30–45 million VND * 11–20 workers: 45–60 million VND * 21+ workers: 60–75 million VND • 40–60 million VND for altering, falsifying or using fraudulent documents in permit or exemption applications when it does not constitute a criminal offence. ⚠️ These fine levels apply to individuals. Organizations may face double the applicable amount. Foreign workers and employers should check that permits are valid and that the actual job, position and workplace match the approved information.
