Moral of the story is, oit parents aren’t going to be here for very long. As much as we should respect them and be gentle with them, we also need to be able to prioritize living by our own standards and taking care of yourself. Living by your own standards means doing actions that will make you proud and allow you to respect yourself. I know too many people my age in my position who experience mental heath issues and depression all because they don’t step foot outside if their house cause there parents cause a ruckus over it. My advise is, don’t let your life pass you by as you wait for permission from other people to live it. #immigrantparents #firstgen #oldestdaughter #africanparents #liveyourbestlife
