@nightflightseverywhere: Sometimes we get so used to having good people in our lives that we forget to tell them just how much their presence actually means to us. We notice the big things, obviously, but it’s usually the little things that quietly become part of our everyday life. The random check-ins. Remembering something I mentioned weeks ago. Listening when I’ve had a difficult day even when you’ve had one too. Making me laugh when I didn’t feel like smiling. Showing up without needing to be asked. Being the person I instinctively want to tell when something good happens and the person I want beside me when everything feels heavy. Maybe I don’t always stop in the middle of ordinary life and say thank you for those things, but I notice them. I notice your patience. I notice your effort. I notice the ways you care that probably seem insignificant to you but mean everything to me. And I hope you never mistake my familiarity with your presence for taking you for granted. Sometimes the people who matter most become so naturally woven into our lives that we forget there was once a time when we didn’t know them at all. That’s crazy to think about. There was a version of my life where I hadn’t met you yet, hadn’t heard your laugh, didn’t know your stories, and had no idea how important you’d eventually become to me. So if I haven’t said it lately: thank you. For the obvious things and especially for the things you probably assume nobody notices. You matter to me in ways I don’t always know how to put into words, and my life is genuinely better because somehow, out of all the people in this world, I got lucky enough to know you.
