@eljeey_: Mikha was sunshine in human form. Bubbly, makulit, clingy, and always doing something that made Aiah wonder how one person could have so much energy. Aiah was the opposite—quiet, formal, and almost always nonchalant. “Please stop bothering me,” Aiah would say whenever Mikha interrupted her work. But she'd always smile afterward. That afternoon, Aiah had to stay late at work. Before leaving, she placed a thick stack of papers on her desk. “I need to finish these tonight. Please don't touch them.” Mikha nodded seriously. “Yes, ma'am!” Aiah narrowed her eyes. “I'm trusting you.” Mikha saluted. “I won't touch them!” “I'll only clean around them.” Aiah sighed. “Fine. Just be careful.” Then she kissed Mikha's forehead before leaving. “I'll surprise her,” Mikha whispered after the door closed. She started cleaning. Eventually, she reached Aiah's desk. “I'll just clean around the papers.” Everything was fine. Until she reached for her glass of milk. Her elbow bumped it. The glass tipped. Mikha froze. The milk spilled across Aiah's papers. “…Oh no.” She tried saving the papers, but the ink had already started smudging. “These are the papers Aiah worked on all night…” Mikha's heart sank. Still, the guilt wouldn't leave. When Aiah finally came home, Mikha was waiting by the door. “I'm home.” Usually, Mikha would run toward her. This time, she didn't move. “Mikha?” “Hi…” “Why are you standing like that?” “I have something to confess.” “What happened?” Mikha took a deep breath. “I spilled milk.” Aiah blinked. “On what?” “…Your papers.” Aiah's expression changed. She walked toward the desk. Mikha immediately panicked. “I'm sorry! I was cleaning and accidentally knocked the glass over. I didn't mean to. I tried drying them, found the files, and I'll redo everything with you. I'm really, really sorry.” “Mikha.” “I'm sorry.” “I know you didn't do it on purpose.” Mikha looked down. “But you worked so hard on them…” “I did.” “And I ruined them.” Aiah sighed. “I was upset because I worked on those all day and night.” Mikha nodded, her voice small. “I know…” “Hey.” Mikha looked up. “I'm upset about the papers.” Mikha nodded. “But I'm not angry at you.” “Really?” “Really.” “You promise?” Aiah gently pinched her cheek. “Promise.” “Can I hug you?” Aiah opened her arms. “Come here.” Mikha immediately hugged her. Aiah chuckled. “You're such a baby.” “Your baby.” Aiah froze. Mikha smiled against her shoulder. “…Yes.” “You're lucky you're cute.” “I know.” “You're also annoying.” “I know.” “And careless.” “I know.” “But I still love you.” Mikha pulled away. “Say that again!” “No.” “Aiah!” Aiah laughed. “Come on. We have work to do.” Mikha followed her to the desk. “Can I sit beside you?” “You always do.” “Can I hold your hand?” “How will we type?” “With one hand.” “That makes no sense.” “It makes perfect sense.” Aiah stared at her, then slipped her hand into Mikha's. Mikha's smile became huge. “Stop smiling like that.” “Can't.” “Why?” “Because my girlfriend is cute.” Aiah tried to hide her smile. “Just work.” “Yes, ma'am.” They stayed up together, rewriting the ruined pages. Every few minutes, Mikha whispered, “Sorry about the milk.” And every time, Aiah squeezed her hand. “It's okay, baby.” The papers could be rewritten. The work could be done again. But Aiah knew she'd rather have her noisy, clingy Mikha beside her than a perfect house without her. “Sorry about the milk,” Mikha whispered one last time. Aiah squeezed her hand. “It's okay.” “Promise?” “Promise.” And this time, Mikha believed her. #bini #mikhaiah #au
