They meet later on decades later in 1990 and actually became genuine friends apparently both pilots had been searching for each other. Another reason to remember wars aren't caused by the men actually fighting them they're just pawns in someone else's war, that doesn't diminish their sacrifices that just furthers the fact we're mostly all just trying to survive in this crazy world we've been born into.

i remember as kid my great uncle telling me this story he remembered sitting in strapped in hear everyone saying a German doing a wiz by he couldn't believe that instead of shooting them down he escorted them to the coast line he remembered watching the sun rise as they flew out to sea for that I'm eternally gracefull to Stigler who saw there had already been enough death my great uncle Paul holding me 1984 I wouldn't have that without a chance of compassion
