@gabigarciaofficial: I’ve been meaning to post about this for a long time, but I’m going to use Sarah as an example today. I’ve been training Jiu-Jitsu for over 30 years, and back then, it was extremely difficult to find bigger girls or women I could really train hard with someone I could put pressure on and have a tough round with. They simply weren’t there. Today, I have so many training partners who are my height, strong, athletic, and able to push me. To me, that shows just how much Jiu-Jitsu has evolved and how much our community has grown. Jiu-Jitsu truly is for everyone. We don’t always need to wave a flag and demand our place—we can earn and build that space little by little. People talk about women being paid the same as men, but the reality is that our sport is still overwhelmingly male. And look at how much progress we’re already making: there are more women competing, more women training, and so many talented girls coming up. Before demanding something that our side of the sport hasn’t built yet, we need to keep growing our own community and making it stronger. I’m so happy to be training with women who allow me to train with the same intensity I’ve always had when training with men. For most of my career, I didn’t have that. That is real evolution in our sport, and it makes me incredibly happy to see it. Thank you for the training, Sarah. ❤️🥋
