Nurse here. I had an elderly patient that drove her to dog to a Boarding facility and then drove herself to the ER. She ended up being my patient in IMC/telemetry for many shifts. As she got weak she spoke softly of her dog and I finally figured out where he was. My 1st day off I went and got him & brought him to the hospital and arranged for her and Cofu to spend time together. Long story short...she only had 1 niece and after she passed the niece didn't want Cofu. I took him. Was never sure that was his true name but it sounded like what she told me- Cofu 🥰

I have seen this many times over my 24 years as a nurse. Animals waiting outside while we care for their human. Animals are truly amazing and love unconditionally

My mom insisted on going home to die so that she could be with her cat until the end. The cat lay with her almost constantly for 2 weeks and was curled up beside her when she died.

I work on a unit where the emergency exit is right there and I have snuck many animals in. Our pets are the best medicine sometimes🥰
