@brighamofutah: At the time, the soldiers called it the Battle of Bear River. In more recent decades, a broader understanding of what happened that morning just north of what is now the town of Preston, Idaho, has rendered the term “battle” inappropriate. Led by Colonel Patrick Connor (also credited as the “Father of Utah Mining” and “Utah’s First Gentile”), the military action was ostensibly an punitive measure responding to a history of raiding and harassment by the Shoshone, justified in the moment by a warrants of dubious jurisdiction for the arrests of Shoshone leaders following an attack on travelers earlier that month. #idahocheck #utahcheck #historytok #wildwest #TikTokLearningCampaign

If you go about 45 minutes to an hour north. There is a hill right off the highway where supposedly they buried and put a bunch of the native bodies.

My husband said that at night if you visit the site you can see ghosts walking in the distance at night. I guess it’s some place the high schoolers would go looking for something spooky.

There are many massacre sites in Idaho, once reported to be battle grounds. Most of the victims were women, children and elderly people.Ethnic cleansing?? Several years ago we purchased the land back from the government. All who come in peace are welcome now ✌️
