Lena was late. Not dramatically late. Not enough for anyone to complain. But late enough that she didn’t have time for her usual morning routine. She grabbed her bag, checked her phone, fixed her hair in the elevator mirror and hurried toward the car. She had three meetings before lunch. Two presentations. And an afternoon full of emails she already didn’t want to deal with. There was no time to think. Which was exactly why she forgot. Her wedding ring. Normally, before leaving the penthouse, Lena moved it from her ring finger to her index finger. Not because she was ashamed of being married. Never that. It was simply easier. Nobody at Schuett Shipping & Retail knew she had a wife. Well— Almost nobody. Aya knew. Her family knew. Her closest friends knew. But everyone else simply knew Lena wore a ring. They just assumed it was something sentimental. Lena had never corrected them. And today, she completely forgot to move it. ⸻ “Good morning, Ms. Schuett.” Lena walked through the entrance of Schuett Shipping & Retail. “Good morning.” She continued toward the elevators. A few employees greeted her. Lena nodded politely. Nobody said anything. Nobody stopped her. Nobody pointed at her hand. So Lena had absolutely no idea. Her wedding ring was sitting exactly where it wasn’t supposed to be. On her ring finger. ⸻ The first meeting went smoothly. The second was considerably worse. By the third, Lena was ready to walk out of the building and never come back. “That’s all,” she said, closing the folder. The board members nodded. Lena stood. “Send the revised figures to my office before four.” “Yes, Ms. Schuett.” She walked out. The second the doors closed behind her, Lena sighed. She checked her watch. Finally. A break. She returned to her office and walked toward the enormous windows overlooking Bangkok. The city stretched beneath her. Traffic moved through the streets far below, buildings filled the skyline and the afternoon sun reflected against the glass. Lena sat behind her desk. For the first time all day, she allowed herself to relax. Then— Knock. Knock. “Come in.” Aya entered carrying a drink. “I have something for you.” Lena looked up. “What is it?” “Your matcha.” Lena’s expression softened immediately. “Miu?” Aya nodded. “She sent it over.” She placed the cup on Lena’s desk. A small sticky note was attached to it. Lena peeled it off. She recognized Miu’s handwriting immediately. Drink your matcha, Baobao. And after that, drink actual water. I know you. 🤍 Lena smiled. “She knows me too well.” Aya laughed quietly. “She really does.” Lena took a sip. “Perfect.” Aya nodded. Then she turned to leave. She stopped. ⸻ — Continuation ⬇️ — ##lenamiu##miulena##lenaschuett##miunatsha
