@gnation87: Why is a human skull being carried and honoured during a Catholic service not considered idolatry? It’s a reasonable question, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Catholic theology. When Catholics carry a relic, kiss it, kneel before it, or process with it, it can look like worship. But Catholic theology makes an important distinction: Worship belongs to God alone. Catholics call this latria. No saint, relic, statue, or human being is God, so none of them receives the worship owed to God. So why honour a saint’s skull? Because Catholics are not saying, “This bone is God.” They believe the relic belonged to a person who lived for God, and therefore it has a special connection to that person and to what God did through their life. Think about a family photograph. You might kiss or keep a photograph of someone you love. You aren't worshipping the photograph—you are honouring the person it reminds you of. Catholics make a similar distinction with relics. And there are biblical examples of respect for the remains of holy people. Joseph asked that his bones be carried with the Israelites, and Moses fulfilled that request (Genesis 50:25; Exodus 13:19). The Bible also records an extraordinary event involving the bones of Elisha (2 Kings 13:21) and miracles connected with objects associated with Paul (Acts 19:11–12). This doesn't mean Catholics believe bones are magical. The Catholic teaching is: Worship → God alone. Veneration → honour given to the saints. Relics → honoured because of their connection to the saints and ultimately to God. Could a Catholic get this wrong? Absolutely. If someone treats a relic as though it has magical power independent of God, that would be superstition—not Catholic teaching. You may still disagree with the practice, but before calling it idolatry, first understand what Catholics actually believe. A sincere question deserves a sincere explanation, not an insult. #catholic #catholictiktok #foryou #friends #blowthisup @Fr_Chidubem_Jk_Okoye @Fr. Mazi Uc

Respectfully, this is being misunderstood. The skull is being presented as a religious relic associated with St. Thomas Aquinas, not as a god. Catholics distinguish between worship, which is directed to God alone, and veneration, which is an act of honoring a saint and remembering their faith and life. You may disagree with the practice, but calling it “worshipping a skull” doesn't accurately represent what Catholics believe they are doing. Respectful discussion should come with understanding, not assumptions.

Corporate Corner :
Quick to say it’s a relic, is no problem. But in Africa carrying the skull of your own ancestor is witchcraft. It’s funny how we see things anti scripture, but yet defend it with logical and misplaced scriptural context. Bon of the Apostles ever practiced such and Paul warned us in scripture that even if Angels come and teach contrary of what they have taught let it not be accepted. This act is not Christian at all , but a mix of Paganism, thus a Hybrid from an organic practice (Roman Peganic Practices).
