I actually don't hate the sequel that much, considering the fact that technology has advanced over the years of extensive, continuous research to develop Jaegers that can defeat Kaiju's that are adapting to Jaegers. That's just my opinion...

fun fact: when newt was evil in uprising is because there's a reason. When newt was drifting with the kaiju brain he basically sacrificed his mind,body, and everything else to learn that the marshals plan is not ganna work and also why newt got controlled and brainwashed by the precursors is because of his obsession with kaiju body's that why he got controlled so that means newt actually isn't dumb or maybe.
