4 Exercises for Strength + Mobility 💪 🫣 We often think of aging as something we see — but we can also feel it in the way we move. Over time, if we stop challenging our bodies through different positions and ranges of motion, movements like getting down to the floor, rising back up, squatting deeply, rotating through the hips or controlling our body at the end of our range can start to feel harder. 👀 That’s where strength + mobility become such a powerful combination. Mobility isn't just about being flexible. It’s about having the strength and control to actively use your range of motion. These 4 dynamic exercises challenge your body in different ways — moving through deep hip and knee positions, transitioning between the floor and upright positions, supporting your own body weight, and controlling larger ranges of motion. And there’s good reason to keep training these qualities as we get older. Maintaining muscular strength, balance, coordination and functional movement plays an important role in preserving physical capacity and independence with age. This is why physical-activity guidelines emphasize not only staying active, but continuing to train strength and functional movement as we age. Think of it as practicing the movements you want your body to keep being able to do. You don't have to move less because you're getting older. Keep giving your body reasons to stay strong, mobile, coordinated and capable. 💚 ⚠️Stop if you have pain. Always consult your healthcare practitioner before starting any exercise program. 1. Half-Kneeling Hip Lift: Start with one shin folded beneath you and the opposite foot planted, sitting your hips back toward the heel. Place your hands behind you for support. Press through the grounded foot, shin, and hands as you drive the hips forward and up, opening through the front of the hip. Lower with control. 2. Squat-to-Kneeling Rolls: Start in a deep squat with your feet grounded. Shift forward, allowing your knees to travel past your toes as you roll onto the knees and rise to tall kneeling. Bend the knees to reverse the movement, shifting back onto your feet and into your squat. Keep your core engaged and the movement slow and controlled. 3. Dynamic Frog Lifts: Start in Frog with your knees wide and hips back. Rock forward with your core engaged, lifting one lower leg as you move forward. Lower as you shift back, then repeat on the opposite side. Keep the hips controlled and avoid twisting as the leg lifts. 4. Supine Fold-to-Straddle: Lie on your back with your legs overhead in a supine fold. Keeping the legs long and controlled, open wide into a straddle, then draw them back together. Keep your core engaged and move slowly through your comfortable range. #yoga #mobility #stretching #workoutmotivation #motivation
