Speaking on the “SmartLess” podcast, Bullock said Randall asked her to keep his battle with ALS private. “He asked me not to share,” she said. “I know why he asked me not to.” But honoring that promise came with a heavy emotional cost. Bullock said keeping everything secret left her isolated while she cared for Randall and raised her two children during the C*VID-19 pandemic. She described that period as “pretty dark.” Only a small number of people knew what she was going through, including her sister. Eventually, Bullock opened up to close friends Jennifer Aniston and Amanda Anka. But by then, something inside her had already changed. Bullock said she began grieving Randall years before he D*ed. “My person left a lot earlier than the body left,” she explained. She said ALS slowly changed him physically and mentally, leaving her feeling like she was constantly moving forward without ever having time to process what was happening. Randall D*ed on Aug. 5, 2023, at age 57 after a three-year battle with ALS. Bullock had once called him “the love of my life.” He also helped raise her children, Louis and Laila.
