Yes, service members sign up knowing deployment is possible. They do NOT sign up to have their humanity disregarded. And many of the people we’re talking about joined the military as 18-year-old kids. Supporting the troops has to mean more than a bumper sticker when their families are the ones begging us to listen. They are not equipment. They are not expendable. They deserve to come home.
