What a lovely experience for you both. The Muslim bashing and propagandised bs we've witnessed for decades is awful, more than awful, it's outrageous. And Muslims are the salt of the earth type people. I've yelled at the TV many times and now never turn it on. The dribble that we call media.

As an Australian with lebanese heritage, I struggled with identity in my teens till I went to Lebanon and they called me Australian, which was a wake up call of self identity. You live like an Australian and contribute to Australia, your Australian. this segregation of the past is colonialist mindset and that should change.

I worked with a Muslim from Bangladesh and his favourite thing to do was to decorate the Christmas tree with his best work buddy who was openly gay.
