It is defined by a two-stage firing technique: first, craftsmen paint all contour lines with cobalt blue under transparent glaze, which is fired at 1290℃ high temperature to fix the blue framework permanently. Afterwards, various mineral overglaze enamels are filled strictly within the blue outlines, followed by secondary low-temperature baking to lock in bright, layered hues.Blue-and-White Doucai Porcelain is a pinnacle craft of traditional Chinese Jingdezhen porcelain and precious national intangible cultural heritage, reaching its artistic peak in the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty. The whole production adheres to ancient handcraft norms, starting with long-term clay aging and repeated purification to obtain fine blank clay. Every procedure from wheel shaping, blue painting to glazing and color filling relies entirely on manual precision. The blue underglaze sets the rigorous composition, while overglaze colors complement and contrast with it, hence the name "Doucai", meaning contending and matching colors. Far beyond a ceramic artwork, Doucai condenses oriental aesthetic philosophy of balance between line and color, restraint and magnificence. It inherits the thousand-year porcelain-making ingenuity of China’s porcelain capital Jingdezhen, carrying the elegant literati taste of Ming and Qing dynasties, and stands as a world-famous symbol of Chinese classical ceramic civilization and handmade heritage. #handmade #ancientchina #crafttok #countrylife #craft
