It doesn’t help that employers don’t seem to want to give ppl a shot. Just bc your resume doesn’t 100% line up on paper doesn’t mean you can’t learn a new skill and excel.

I quit my job this year with no job lined up. A week later I got a job making $10k more. Got laid off from that one a few months later, got another one the following week making another $10k more. Went from $52k in person, to $72k and fully remote in a few months.

the job market is absolute trash but you need to tailor your resume to EACH AND EVERY ROLE YOU APPLY TO. just chatgpt to help, tell it ALL YOUR EXPERIENCE in great detail, even little things/stories/accomplishments/things you were exposed to, etc. then have it summarize all your experience for itself, for you to create a source of truth document to send back to it when the conversation context window gets too long or just create an agent. now that chatgpt knows you and all your experience, paste a bunch of roles from a company you're looking at, have it pick the top roles to actually apply to, then have it create tailored resumes for each role, apply like that. VERY TIME CONSUMING and it really is just a numbers game. try to get 3-6 tailored applications out per day. you will get a decent paying job eventually. I got laid off in april and spent 2.5 months doing this. several interviews, then landed 3 company interviews within a week that all went to the last (3rd/4th) stage. and I got to choose which job I wanted. it's possible people. looking for a job was almost more time consuming than the full time job I got laid off from, and holy shit is it draining

I'm getting paid the lowest I have since 2007. I'm making a third of what I used to and that's if I get paid. I have over 1400+ applications, 130+ combined interviews, and 19 months unemployed. Savings gone and my self dignity has disappeared.

it’s terrible. i was unemployed for about 9 months then underemployed for 2, now i finally have a full time job. i was so sad and kept taking the constant ghostings, rejections, etc. personally at a certain point, and it made me feel really worthless (when we shouldn’t tie our self worth to a job or anything)!

I just got a job, and this was genuinely the hardest job search I have ever been in. It was genuinely brutal I don’t know how I got through it.

This is accurate, it’s the toughest job market most working people have ever experienced but it WILL get better. Keep your heads up and stay strong friends💪

Been looking since March. I apply for 4-5 jobs a week, minimum. I'm 32 and might have to move back in with my parents if I can't find a job soon. 🙃

I haven't been able to get a job through the regular process for years. the only way I got my last couple jobs is by knowing the owner, and then knowing someone high up the chain. otherwise my resume wouldn't even get looked at

This has been the hardest for me, especially in California. I got an interview cancelled on me. no follow up, no reschedule. just "sorry" and that's it.
