What if part of the reason you’re struggling to build an income is that you’ve been taught to be afraid of wanting money? For many women coming out of traditional or tradwife environments, there can be a lot of complicated messaging around money. We were taught that our role was to be the homemaker, the supportive wife, the helper—and that the man was supposed to be the primary or sole provider. Then there was the fear of becoming materialistic. Don’t care too much about money. Don’t focus too much on wealth. Don’t become greedy. And, of course, the familiar warning that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.” Those messages can run much deeper than we realize. And sometimes they can make it difficult to pursue income with confidence—even when we desperately need it. I’ve come to a different conclusion. Wanting financial stability isn’t the same thing as loving money. If you’ve spent decades not earning, you may need to work very intentionally to catch up. You need to pay your bills. Build savings. Invest. Prepare for retirement. Create stability for yourself and your children. Maybe eventually build enough wealth that you have choices you didn’t have before. That requires making money. And I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with that. Of course, money can become an idol. People can become greedy and materialistic. But money itself isn’t the problem. The question is what you’re doing with it and what place it has in your heart. So if you’ve been holding yourself back because some part of you believes that wanting to make good money makes you selfish, greedy, worldly, or less feminine… Maybe it’s time to rethink that. You are allowed to build a life where you are financially secure. You are allowed to want more than survival. And you are allowed to go after your goals. #StartOverStrategy #DivorcedFormerTradwife #WomenAndMoney #FinancialIndependence #WomenBuildingBusinesses
