@elite.recruiter: The thing I want to be careful about here is that this can slide into policing how women look, and that is not the conversation. Plenty of exceptional people dress casually and get promoted constantly. What changed is that the signal moved while the rules stayed unwritten, so the people who have always had access to that information adjusted quietly and everybody else is operating on a 2021 standard nobody told them had expired. ⠀ That is the actual inequity in this. Not the clothes. The information. Somebody with a parent or a mentor in that world got told. Everyone else finds out through a vague piece of feedback about executive presence three years after it started costing them. ⠀ So take it as intel rather than instruction. Look at the two people in your organization who keep getting pulled into the rooms you want to be in, and notice what they have decided about how they show up. You do not have to copy it.
