Wat Samphran is one of Thailand’s most unique temples, famous for its striking 17-storey pink tower wrapped by a massive dragon. Located about 40 km west of Bangkok in Nakhon Pathom province, this lesser-known temple offers a fascinating blend of Buddhist symbolism and architectural creativity. The dragon, an important figure in Buddhist and Chinese mythology, is believed to symbolise power, protection, and wisdom. Visitors can walk through a tunnel inside the dragon’s body, though only part of it is accessible today. At the top, breathtaking views stretch across the surrounding countryside. Unlike many of Thailand’s famous temples, Wat Samphran was built relatively recently. It was officially registered in 1985, though its origins remain somewhat mysterious. The temple grounds include several other striking statues, such as a giant bronze Buddha, a turtle-shaped shrine, and elephant sculptures. Wat Samphran remains a peaceful place for worship, and visitors are encouraged to dress respectfully. Unlike many popular temples in Thailand, it sees fewer tourists, making it a great spot for those seeking a quieter cultural experience. #Thailand #Bangkok #Travel #Asia #Explore #Adventure #Temple #Culture #History #Backpacking #Sightseeing #Tourism #BucketList #Photography #ScenicViews #Spirituality #Buddhism #Mythology #Heritage #Meditation #TravelAsia #Discover #HiddenGem #BeautifulDestinations #VisitThailand #DiscoverThailand #ExploreBangkok #ThailandDestinations #ThaiCulture #Dragon
