First M stands for Motivation. What is the motivation for remembering this person's name? Maybe it is for networking, maybe it is for respect or maybe it is to close a deal. If you know that in an hour's time of meeting or hearing a person's name, that if anyone who remembers that person's name gets a million dollars, would you forget his or her name? What is the motivation for learning a new language? To embrace more of that culture? To make friends with people of that language? To go and live in that country for a long period of time? O Stands for Observation. Memory is not about retention but its about attention. Sometimes we don't pay enough attention to it to remember it. If you don't even see or notice the car that passed by, how would you even know or remember what color it is? Last M is for Mechanics. Mechanics are the tools, techniques and strategies for remembering and to have a better memory, which I will continue to share.
