"they were civilian targests" has been one of the greatest lies told to us to make us the bad guys. hiroshima was a supply transit hub and housed the HQ for the second general army, who were in charge of coordinating defense from a land invasion of japan. both targets were hit, so just in case we needed to invade the ones in charge of defense were gone. Nagasaki was a military ship port, ship builder, and torpedo and artillery producer. pretty important to stop an island nation

Unfortunate, but unavoidable. Japan was operating on a supremacist military doctrine with which they attempted to justify their atrocities. Their civilian populations were fed endless propaganda about the American devils, and told that surrender would be a fate worse than death. Thank God, we live in a different world now, where we can see each other plainly.
