Mama is questionable for that advice. I would at minimum say benedryl if I knew she had a recurrent mild allergy. Other than that, ER!

I married a foreigner. When my MIL. Visited us she basically thought I was neglecting my kids bc how reluctant I am to take them to the doctor. It costs a damn fortune and it’s never one visit. When I was in first grade I broke my foot in 3 places and hopped around my house for 3 days bc my mother was worried about costs. America is TRASH. We aren’t so broken.

And of course he has zero right to approve any treatment. If you are keeping someone elses child for longer than a day, get written permission to approve medical treatment and get their insurance info if they have it.

What? He tells the mom and mom says she will take her to the ER when she gets back from her trip??!! What kind of mother says that? I’d be packing my stuff to get home and meeting them at the hospital!! I feel for the kid AND the cousin who is watching her!

Nope that’s medical neglect. My dad likes to tell a “funny story” about how I fell at recess and the nurse said I sprained my wrist. But I kept complaining about the pain. So he took me to the Dr to “prove” it wasn’t broken. It was…letting me go around for a WEEK with a broken arm is a “funny family story”. I’m 41 and have realized in the last few years how neglectful that was!
