That’s why Trevor Noah kept trying to explain, he was born a crime. He was his mother’s child, but if the apartheid police saw him, they would accuse her of kidnappping a “colored” child. Or they would arrest her for having sex with a white man. Which was illegal.

so technically you guys are literally creole but in SA terms it’s colored. which is understandable what that means now after you broke it down. This is how it is in the Caribbean for a lot of us as well. We’re all mixed with everything spanish east asian south asian , African , Native indigenous . So makes sense why we say we’re creole too

I’m one of the whitest coloured people to the point I took a DNA test cos I looked so different to my coloured family. When it came out that majority of my dna is African and Indian I was super proud 🥹

Totally agree with your explanation but we must also admit our segregation act that coloured and Asian people (Indians) got treated little better than black people during apartheid, it is evident with past infrastructure, schools and some job positions reserved for coloureds that was better than for black people, even Nelson Mandela nerates in his book that black people got short pants and colourds got long pants in jail, hence some coloured people embrace the separation and don't want to be mistaken for being black coz of years of indoctrination that black is bad even worse some coloureds are racist towards blacks, this is personally experienced in Cape Town being referred to the K word whilst I worked there, but I agree with your explanation.
