@nathanjackson407: šØ SOME CAR-BUYING ADVOCATES ARE GOING OFF THE RAILS⦠AND HEREāS WHY I THINK ITāS HAPPENING. šØ First, let me be clear: there are several car-buying advocates I know personally who do a GREAT job, genuinely help consumers, and have my complete respect. š But then there are some who seem to believe the only way to build their business is by convincing you that EVERY car salesperson is dishonest, desperate, uneducated, or trying to rip you off. Hereās the problem⦠THE CAR BUSINESS IS CHANGING. Salespeople are becoming more professional. More educated. More transparent. And better at helping customers understand the buying process. Is the automotive industry perfect? Absolutely not. There are bad dealerships and bad salespeopleājust like there are bad apples in every profession. But the better we get at our jobs, the more confident customers become buying a vehicle without feeling like they need someone else standing between them and the dealership. And eventually customers start asking: š¤ āWhy am I paying someone else to help me buy a car when I already have a salesperson I know and trust?ā And THAT may be what scares some people. Because if your business depends on convincing consumers that car salespeople are the enemy, what happens when more and more salespeople start doing things the RIGHT way? My answer is simple: Educate the consumer. Educate the salesperson. Demand transparency from dealerships. Hold bad actors accountable. And letās make this entire industry BETTER. You can keep throwing rocks at the car business⦠WEāLL KEEP GETTING BETTER. šŖš Now I want to hear from YOU: š Are car dealerships getting BETTER, getting WORSE, or staying the SAME? Drop your opinion in the comments ā I want to hear both sides. #CarTok #CarBuying #CarBuyingTips #CarSales #CarDealership

I think dealers will show their value and learn a lot if they take constructive criticism around why Tomi and others even have a business. Not all dealers are bad but thereās been enough for a reputation to have been earned

I have bought exactly 1 car in my life. I was trying to get out as fast as possible. price was negotiated before I ever stepped in the dealership. I had an appointment. they still stranded me halfway through the paperwork. I was there for 7.5 hours. this is the average customers experience.

They are gasping for air, trying to paint a horrible picture of the car business for their own personal GAINES. Look at Tommy he built a whole business model bashing the car industry. just so he can scam them out of $995 and ghost them after the sale. lol the public is waking up and realizing car buying advocates are mostly scam artist.

The reputation exists for a reason. I bought multiple cars in my life and every experience has been pretty awful. I've been waiting for a service like this my entire life and it is worth every penny.

IMHO your industry has earned the scrutiny. Is there any industry that pressures/deceives buyers more than auto ? Home improvement is dirtier but less frequent. Maybe furniture? Jewelry? Doesnāt mean every person in your industry or those participate, that I agree with.

Okay, letās assume youāre genuinely trying to help customers after the sale. You say most dealerships are good, but I completely disagree. Based on my experience buying multiple vehicles from different brands and in multiple states, Iād say the opposite. Very few have actually given me a great experience.
My question is simple: why canāt consumers have the option to buy directly from the manufacturer?
Iām not saying eliminate dealerships. Keep the dealership model for people who want it. But if I donāt want to negotiate with a salesperson, sit through finance pitches, or deal with the games that many consumers experience, why shouldnāt I be able to purchase directly from the manufacturer and then use an authorized dealer for service? My best car-buying experience has been with Tesla, and Iāve owned plenty of vehicles from traditional manufacturers. And sponsoring local sports teams, donating to charities, or putting your name on community events doesnāt automatically make you a better business. Thatās community involvement and marketing. Plenty of companies do those things while still treating customers poorly.
So again, why not give consumers a choice? Let people who want dealerships use them, and let people who donāt want that experience buy directly from the manufacturer. If dealerships truly provide superior value, they should be able to compete for the customer instead of having the law force the customer to go through them.

These services exist for a reason. Not saying you are bad but look how many dealer trainers are on here telling salesmen how to lie and manipulate customers. Thatās usually the experience I get when I buy a car.

The problem is the dealers business model is to scam consumers out of every penny possible. If people took everything in the finance office their payment would double. Watching all these car related videos, there's no shortage of videos on the other side from fni guys etc, pitching training to help salespeople grab every penny they can. āļø

Just bought a car last week. My salesperson was great but he didnāt do the deal , the sales manager did and he was a manipulator who used sloppy sales psychology. He tried to confuse me on the numbers, run my credit when I came in with a loan from a credit union. Kept me there for hours needlessly. I ended up getting a good deal because I actually got up and walked out and they had the finance manager call me saying he had my paperwork ready to sign. It wad a horrible experience and next car I will definitely be hiring an advocate.

Most? No. Youāre there to make the most money for the dealership. Hence your compensation being a % of what you make the dealer. Your incentive is totally on max rev.

I think the fundamental problem is the way everyone looks at each other. Car Buying Advocates bashing salespeople and dealerships and Car salespeople bashing car buying advocates. If anyone really thinks that the car industry is going to change for better or worse under todayās conditions they are sadly mistaken. Now, in the future AI š¤ might have something to say about that but as of today, everyone needs to stop pointing fingers at each other and focus on themselves. I say it every day there are 16 million cars sold every year in the United States. There are going to be plenty of people who would never use a car dealership and there are going to be plenty of people that would never use a car buying advocate. And if either party thinks the other is taking business from them they are also sadly mistaken.

Hereās an honest question far any car salesman. Why not just give the best possible price for a vehicle that you wanna sell the first time? And why not send it in writing to someone? If a salesman wants to be transparent and sell the car then they should give their best price the first time and not go back and forth saying things like let me see what my sales manager can do! Our time as customers is just as valuable as yours. Simply put make it easier and give the best price and if we wanna shop it let us but if u are higher than the next dealer then why shouldnāt we shop?

I do feel for honest sales people in this, but itās kind of like buyers are finally able to unionize against the machine of auto dealers who have held all the cards forever. I donāt see the sentiment going away.
