11 year veteran teacher here! Most parents view a negative report as a personal attack on their parenting skills. It isn't. However, the second a parent says "well at home we never see that" (or something of the like), that is when I will judge you as a parent. If a teacher is reporting a negative behavior, the proper response should be "thank you for bringing this to our attention, what can we do so it doesn't happen further."

My youngest is a Taurus. He made the Principal's top 100 out of the entire school which is about 7000ish students. That award is awarded to the best behaved and the most helpful. It's not a star sign that makes a person a twat.

2 words…. Paper trail… that way when this parent complains that this child is not passing or is suspended and she didn’t know there was a problem. you have a paper trail that you informed the parent four times a week
