@airwavefiles: In 1989, NHL goaltender Clint Malarchuk survived one of the most terrifying accidents in sports history when a skate blade severed his carotid artery live on national television. Thanks to the quick reaction of team trainer Jim Pikul, who pinched the artery closed, Malarchuk miraculously survived and returned to the ice just ten days later. However, the physical recovery was only part of the battle—he secretly fought severe PTSD, depression, and alcoholism for years before surviving a second near-fatal event in 2008. Today, Malarchuk’s story is a powerful beacon of hope, inspiring countless people as he travels the world as a passionate advocate for mental health and suicide prevention. #truestory #truecrime #injury #airwavefiles
