I once had an American tourist be extremely rude to me telling me to put out my cigarette or smoke with my other hand IN THE PATIO OF A BAR. I smoked with my other hand to not cause trouble but to this day I still regret not hitting her in the head with the ash tray.

guys I would like to say something. I am French, I live in France and I smoke cigarettes outside. I promise you, some of us take into the account that people don't necessarily want to have cigarette smoke near them, and so we deliberately go as far as possible to not be disrespectful. some people yes have no regards to others unfortunately, but some do.

It's so funny to me, if you go into a smoking allowed area, people will smoke. They're allowed. There are plenty of places that ban smoking. If you want to go to a place and there's smoking allowed, but you don't want secondhand smoke, sit at the edge of the outdoor area and make sure the wind is coming from the outside, so you don't get smoke. Or deal with it. Sit inside.

A tourist wrote in to our local paper to complain about people smoking because it spilled the tranquility of the island or something. Like yeah smoking isn’t ideal but people live here, this isn’t some toy town made for your amusement, they can do what they want.
