@sam.holvey: Epic UGM 2026, translated for patients. 👀 Epic, the company behind MyChart, just announced changes that could affect your medical records, scans, insurance approvals and even how AI is used to predict your health. Some of these updates could genuinely make patients’ lives easier. Others deserve a raised eyebrow. Which healthcare headache has caused you the most grief: multiple MyChart accounts, carrying scans on a CD, prior authorization delays or records that refuse to follow you? Follow for the patient playbook no one gives you. #MyChart #healthcare #PatientAdvocacy #PriorAuthorization #HealthcareAI

Nurse of 28 years - still can’t believe that EPIC got the market share it did. It is basically a 1970s spreadsheet that that just keep adding on to.

So in other words, We finally get a smidge of what we were original sold and promised in the early 2000’s when EMRs launched.

One thing I always think is worth noting when talking about the FTC investigation and the lawsuit from the Texas AG is that Epic’s main competitor is owned by a close friend of the president

As a nurse, I’m not a fan of AI being used in healthcare simply bc a machine cannot be held accountable for a mistake. And I don’t want AI to become a norm that outweighs clinical judgment and assessment. Allowing patients to access AI on my chart for summarizing info or imaging is a double edged sword that seems more likely to cause conflict than help

By the way, the competitor suing them is Cerner, now known as Oracle Health. That's right ORACLE, Larry Ellison. There is NO WAY IN HELL I want Larry Ellison near my information. Go MyChart!

I’ve been a nurse for 20 years and certified np. This AI shit in healthcare is bad for us consumers aka patients. I’m against how far it’s being allowed to go. I hate chat bots too.

As someone who does pharmacy prior authorizations for the clinic and was forced to use AI to be more efficient, it has completely made my job harder and double work. The external system we use only gets the answers correct about 60% of the time and I still have to do my own investigation into the chart. Since I can't trust it to be 100%, I have to double check every question every time! It is exhausting!!

Ohhh I will be opting out of this. One doctor writes that you are neurotic no doctor in the country will ever believe you again. I will keep my cds and medical privacy

My two epic chart are now linked between two hospital systems so they can share and see medical information instead of me forwarding medical records to other physicians

Don’t like curiosity… that seems a little too invasive and doesn’t appear to take into account other factors that can impact a patient

The AI component is awful. Get in the way and possible not “learning” from folks that had basic biology

for the imaging, are patients able to view the images too… or only clinicians?

ART sucks, it’s running in the background on every chart unless I say cancel. Trying to summarize 3;years of notes! I don’t need that to answer their My chart question. Imagine the water wasted!

Scary that one company pretty much has a monopoly for EHRs. The market power they’ll have in another five years is unimaginable.

Retired nurse and Epic ASAP software engineer for a small to mid size system. Care everywhere is crap clinicians hate it. Epic as enormous outsized influence over health care. Glad for the FTC investigation
