“For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” (Hebrews 10:14, KJV) This is one of those questions that keeps a lot of us up at night. What if I mess up again? What if I backslide? What if I’m not good enough? Our hearts are deceitful, always whispering, “You blew it. God’s done with you.” Many believers treat salvation as if it’s so fragile. The truth is, if you could lose your salvation, that would mean you had to earn it in the first place. But you didn’t! Salvation isn’t a paycheck for good behavior. It’s a gift, bought and paid for by Jesus’ blood. Hebrews 10:14 says, “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” Did you catch that? Perfected. Forever. Not until your next mistake. Not until you fall short. Forever! SHEESH! Notice the tense when it says, “hath perfected.” In Greek, the word is teteleiōken, a perfect tense verb. This means the action is completed once and for all, with ongoing results. Jesus’ sacrifice wasn’t a down payment on salvation. It was the full payment. That’s the kind of security only God can give. Let’s break it down with some more scripture. “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” (Galatians 5:4) If you’re trying to keep your salvation by being good, you’re actually falling away from grace. Why? Because the law demands perfection. James 2:10 says if you break one law, you’re guilty of all. Who can live up to that? Not me! Not you! That’s why Jesus had to do it all. He kept the law, He died for our sins, and He rose again. We cannot fail because Jesus cannot fail. What a merciful God we have! So why do we still worry? Because we keep looking at ourselves. We look at our feelings, our failures, our up-and-down faith. But God says, “Look at My Son.” Romans 7:18 reminds us, “For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing.” Our flesh will always let us down. But Jesus never has and never will. He said, “It is finished.” Not, “It is a deposit.” Not, “It is a trial run.” Finished. Eternally redeemed. That’s your identity now. So then, how do we apply it to our lives today? Stop checking your spiritual pulse every five minutes. Stop measuring your salvation by your performance. Instead, rest in what Jesus has done. Trust His word over your feelings. When you fall (and you will), remember: your salvation was never in your hands to lose. It’s in His hands, and He’s never letting go. So can you lose your salvation? No way. Not if it’s real. Not if it’s His. Not if it’s finished. God never quits. We cannot fail. Your sin has an expiration date, but Christ’s sacrifice does not. What a merciful God we have! Amen!
