@ellequii: I often used to think my horse hated being out but in reality they didn’t like the turnout I was providing them #horses #equine #equestrian #horsewelfare #horseriding

Stalls can be very useful, especially for managing specific diets and feed management. but theys still need proper turn out to balance the stall time

so when I had my horse she was stabled overnight because the temperature went to low for them to be outside at night even with a blanket on however she was turned out during the day unless being ridden i think there needs to be a balance between being out in the pasture and stabled

Mine are out 24/7 unless severe weather or injury (one has just come off stable rest tho and is recovered but I stable him at night for safety still especially if it’s wet). I’m hoping to get fans and misters fit in once we build new stables bc our summers are HORRENDOUS but I absolutely hate stabling at all tbh

People think life is black and white.. I think all horses should be taught that stabling is ay okay if needed. I mean you never know when you might need it.

I am me 🇸🇪 :
My horses has turnout 24/7 approx 8-9 months of the year and 16 hrs/day in the winter. One of them has laminitis and when she needed to be on boxrest we made a box-sized field for her in the other horses field so she could have most of what a turnout provides but still be safe from being pushed around and running. Being free and outside is natural for horses and helps their mental stater. All my 4 also approaches me in the field, for cuddle, scratches and food but they rarely wants to be stabled over night unless the weather is absolutly sh1t.

the horses who stand at the gate of their "pasture" or pace is because they are just in a stall woth an open sky. boring, deprives of any enrichment.

I had a gelding who used to love coming in to be snuggled in! He’d live out all day and come in at night… unfortunately he now has asthma so doesn’t cope with stabling. Poor sod!!!

This happens too often and people should be talking about it ! If someone never took their dog outside or into the garden people would be outraged so why don’t we have the same standards for horses

My girl goes outside for the day and comes in at night so she can eat her grain without getting picked on or picking on others 😂 and so I can check on her at night via her camera

exactly! when I talk about the dangers of overstalling, I am talking about OVERstalling. as in, horses that are stalled pretty much 24/7 and only come out when they are ridden or for very occasional turnout. if you stall your horse overnight so long as you give them proper food and neighbors that is a completely different story. or if your horse is on stall rest. the world ain't black and white yall

my horse is out 24/7, she seems to love coming inside, but if you leave the option of going out, she'll leave after a couple hours rest to go back out. this goes for all our horses really

i do wish my horses could go out 24/7 but there’s only two horses on my yard- both mine. One of them, the bay, could handle being outside 24/7 but the other one struggles with loosing weight and gains it super easily on the rich grass. I have to bring the cob in for her own health so therefore the bay has to come in to as they’re not alone

My horses were out 24/7 over summer and now the weather has changed they come in at night. When they stayed out they never stood by the gate, but now they come in they do at brining in time. They learn the routine and that they get to come in for food.

Mine just knows his routine and that he gets supper and his danilon when he comes in in the evening. He couldnt be out all the time or in all the time he needs a balance bc hes arthritic and cant stay out all the time. In the morning he goes out and he charges off like he hasnt made us spend a fortune on vet visits. Every horse needs something different.

Horses at my barn get turned out at night, and then come in when it starts geting to hot. (UV here also gets incredibly high and for some reason only 2 out of 14 horses use the trees in their paddocks to avoid burn from the heat) so it’s advised by our vets to bring them in. However, we have a horse who is deathly afraid of going out into the paddock in the dark - we have no clue why. So she gets turned out during the day. With a fly sheet to avoid UV if she decided she doesn’t wanna use the trees. I had never heard of horses being afraid of the dark till this barn 😭

A quick and flavorful Italian-inspired chicken dish with a vibrant lemon caper sauce, served with fiber-rich roasted cauliflower, perfect for a low-carb, high-protein Mediterranean diet. Ingredients: - 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (approx. 6 oz each) - 2 tbsp olive oil (divided) - 1 lemon (juiced and zested) - 1/4 cup capers (drained) - 3 cloves garlic (minced) - 1 tsp turmeric (for anti-inflammatory benefit) - 1 head cauliflower (cut into florets) - 1 tbsp olive oil (for roasting) - 1/2 tsp black pepper - 1/2 tsp salt (optional or reduce for sodium control) - 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley - 1/4 cup whole grain breadcrumbs (optional, for added fiber) Instructions: 1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss cauliflower florets with 1 tbsp olive oil, black pepper, and salt. Spread on a baking sheet and roast for 20-25 minutes until golden and tender. 2. Cook chicken breasts for 6-7 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside. 4. In the same skillet, add garlic and turmeric; cook for 1 minute.
