Everything I have known about Zarna Garg is against my will. She also thinks South Indians are lesser btw (def bc of skin color)

Jeremy Franco is the Lilly Singh of Tiktok. He doesn’t mind was Zarna does, because he puts on women’s clothes and does the same thing? Conflicting low hanging fruit with “lived experiences” is intentionally obtuse.

her daughter calling usha vance an inspiration for other brown women because she married a white man was my last straw.

This is why I like Mindy Kaling's style of showing indian women as different to the traditional view. Never Have I Ever was my first experience understanding why representation matters.

Facts. Not just her either, but any content that focuses heavily on Indian American tropes like immigrant values, pressure to succeed academically, dating etc is all so tired and corny now. It’s why I always thought Aziz Ansari was South Asian representation going in the right direction, an artist who was aware of his ethnic background, but one who’s art isn’t exclusively about it

Her humor is funny to people who are laughing at the wrong things about us. Hard pass

Literally the only reason I know about zarna garg is because of people complaining about her

You know what?!? Thank you for this perspective I do find her quite funny but now I’m examining why! As a black woman I feel this exact same way about much of the “black comedy” that’s out

She panders to MAGA because she knows they're laughing AT her but that gets her viewership and opens up brand deals. Absolutely hate it but honestly not surprised at all.

It just sucks because you can do so much personal work and people of ALLLLLL races will just look at you as a caricature of what they perceive as Indian culture

Orientalism and pandering to who you think is American is what she does. Very disappointing! Thank you for bringing this up…

Peter Russell started this but i think indians joking about indian stereotypes is literally the lowest hanging fruit. Like because of this artists we cant ever have the public accept a spy movie or a sci fi plot with a indian as a lead get popular.

Jeremy Franco :
I understand calling out harmful stereotypes, but I don’t think authentic lived experiences should automatically be labelled as “setting Indians back.” Zarna grew up in India and makes comedy about her actual life and family. If someone who grew up Indian American doesn’t relate to it, that doesn’t mean those experiences don’t exist
There’s no single way to be Indian, and one person’s experience isn’t more valid because it fits a different lens.
