🍝 Farmhouse Spaghetti & Meatballs 🍝 Sometimes I forget to put this family favorite in the meal rotation. It’s simple, filling, and always welcome at our table - especially after a busy day on the farm. The homemade sauce simmers in the crockpot and makes a generous batch. It’s a great choice for feeding a larger group, and you can freeze any extra sauce for another supper. The meatballs and pasta are easy to double, too. Crockpot Sauce * 3 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes * 1 small can (6 ounces) tomato paste * ⅛ cup red wine, optional - it adds a nice depth of flavor * 1 tablespoon dried basil or Italian seasoning * 1 teaspoon garlic powder * 1 teaspoon sugar, if desired * Black pepper, to taste * Salt, to taste, if desired Meatballs & Pasta * 1 pound ground beef * 2 slices bread, whirred in a blender into soft crumbs * 1 large egg * 1 tablespoon ketchup * 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning * ½ teaspoon garlic powder * ½ teaspoon onion powder * ½ teaspoon salt * ¼ teaspoon black pepper * 1 pound spaghetti * Shredded cheese, for serving, if desired Directions 1. Stir the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, basil or Italian seasoning, garlic powder, sugar, pepper, and salt together in the crockpot. 2. In a bowl, combine the ground beef, fresh bread crumbs, egg, ketchup, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently, just until combined, then shape into about 16 meatballs. 3. Brown the meatballs in a skillet, turning to brown the sides. They don’t need to be cooked through yet. 4. Nestle the meatballs into the sauce. Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours, until the meatballs are cooked through. 5. Near serving time, cook the spaghetti according to the package directions and drain. Serve with the sauce and meatballs, adding shredded cheese if desired. Farm wife tip: Freeze extra sauce in meal-size portions. It’s a handy start to another busy-day supper. A great thing about the sauce recipe is that you can make it your own: use fresh garlic if you like, increase or decrease seasonings, add chopped green peppers or onions, add sliced mushrooms…you get the drift…make it your family favorite! ▶️ What’s one family favorite you sometimes forget to add to your meal plan? 🤍 🤍 Kelley’s Farm Wife Favorites 🤍 #FarmhouseSpaghetti #SpaghettiAndMeatballs #FamilyFavorite #EasyFamilyDinner #ComfortFood
