In the most affected areas, footage circulating online reportedly shows residents collecting dirty water from ruhurura, drainage channels, as they search for alternative sources. Kigali is already facing a major supply gap. The city reportedly needs around 210,000 cubic metres of water per day, while production stands at roughly 145,000 cubic metres, leaving a deficit of about 65 million litres daily. Many households have instead turned to purchased jerrycans, tanker deliveries, wells and distant water points, adding costs and long journeys to everyday life.
