Everyone saying stay put, even those apparently with fire experience, you are totally wrong. Fire doors last for approx 30-60 mins. in a tower of flats that size, if a fire goes that out of control, no way would crews be able to reach the higher levels in that time frame.

Did we learn nothing from Grenfell? It's always better to get out and wait to be told if it's a real fire or not, even if your kids were fast asleep and it's pissing it down outside, than risking your entire family burning to death!

Stay put policy is so bad, most fire doors get damaged and inspections are rushed, not frequent enough and loads of new fire doors are found to still be not compliant. Fire doors are to protect you if you can’t escape to allow you time in a sealed space, Not for you to stay and wait for it to get worse. I would leave id you can. If people actually left during grenfell most of them would’ve survived :(

Flats are so dangerous as building owners dont staff most. They leave the fire panel up to residents to turn off when it could be a fire.
