@mushambimu2ma: Don’t give me free rein on stage and expect me not to sneak some F1 into my examples of adaptability and speed in action 😅 At the recent @thedrivenetwork QSE Business Summit, I used the evolution of the Formula 1 pit stop to make one simple point: When speed changes, systems must be redesigned. In the 1950s, a pit stop of around 67 seconds was considered fast. Today, McLaren holds the world record at 1.8 seconds. To change 4 tyres! 1.8 seconds! That improvement did not come from asking mechanics to move 37 times faster. The entire system evolved. Roles became clearer. Tools & tech improved. Teams rehearsed relentlessly. Data became more precise. Decision-making tightened. Every unnecessary movement was questioned. What’s the lesson here for you? You cannot expect your people to simply “work faster” while keeping yesterday’s processes, approval layers, technology and operating rhythms intact. As AI accelerates what is possible, the organisations that win will redesign how work actually gets done. Speed without systems creates chaos. Designed speed creates scale. And as I shared with the business owners in the room: scale is not more hustle. Scale is repeatable excellence at speed! Ps… we’re still team Ferrari all day every day!
