@robdidatiktok: Don’t just follow the crowds 🗽 If you’re going to New York for the first time, this is one of the best ways to see the Statue of Liberty. Everyone tells you to use the free Staten Island Ferry, and it is a great option. Just be warned: at busy times it can be absolutely rammed, with everyone trying to get onto the same side for a photo. I prefer doing this instead. Go to Battery Park City ferry terminal at Brookfield Place and take the NYC Ferry St. George route towards Staten Island. It costs $4.50, so roughly £3.50, and heading towards Staten Island you want to be on the right-hand side. When we did it, we were literally the only people on the top deck and the view of the Statue of Liberty was brilliant. Then, once you get to Staten Island, you can take the free Staten Island Ferry back to Manhattan. So for about £3.50 you get two ferry rides, two different views of the Statue of Liberty and, in my opinion, a much nicer experience.
