As someone who’s also recovered from an ED I think it’s really important to shine light on how hard it can be mentally and physically to recover from these things. Mine didn’t stem from any sort of image issues, I loved myself and had (and still have) a long term partner who loved me no matter what I looked like. My struggle came from not being able to approach food healthily. I grew up in a home where I had food poisoning at least once every 6 months for years. I couldn’t chew without wanting to be sick, it made me feel so disgusting which in tern caused me to become entirely depressed. All I could stomach was a protein shake and protein bar while working on my feet all day running a pet store entirely on my own in a busy city. I nearly passed out several times on a daily basis, I’d see black spots in my vision and I’d have to race to eat something sweet so I wouldn’t collapse. Jolly ranchers became my best friend. Anything I could sip on became essential. Smoothies, shakes, soups and vitamin waters all became my only source of energy. I couldn’t digest anything when I would try to eat because my body was so shocked from the minimal amount of food it was getting. I had to start forcing myself to eat small meals all throughout the day, and fighting through the physical pain it would cause me. Even to this day, my body has a hard time with food. I’m afraid of getting sick because of how often I would get sick, it caused me to develop a fear of throwing up and now I’m skeptical of everything I eat even if I make it myself. I was closing in on 100lbs at 24 years old. I’m 26 now and nearly 185lbs. It takes time, help, and fearless effort but it is possible!

Jakiś czas temu byłam częstym gościem u mamy na oiomie. Pojawiła się koło niej dziewczyna z BARDZO zaawansowaną anoreksją. Po 3 dniach jej miejsce było puste. Nie, nie wyzdrowiała tak szybko. Po tej sytuacji chce mi się płakać jak widzę dziewczyny zmagające się z tą chorobą i jestem ogromnie dumna jak widzę, że ktoś walczy😭 Masz dziewczyno 👑
