@kpis_canada: you’ll want to remember. 👀 A new set of rental rules is coming into effect, and some of the changes could significantly affect how quickly non-payment cases move, how repeated late payments are treated, and what happens during certain N12 and renovation-related evictions. Pasted markdown.md One of the biggest changes? The N4 termination period for non-payment of rent will drop from 14 days to just 7 days for monthly and yearly tenancies. Pasted markdown.md There are also new rules around persistent late payments, arrears at non-payment hearings, landlord-own-use evictions and renovation-related notices.
Right, tighten the noose even more around poor ppl

@Reen: Tenants are literally a NIGHTMARE these days. Liberal legislation left us landlords without any rights to our own property, blood sweat and tears. Thank GOD things are changing. I will be evicting left and right lol.

Still not enough, the tenants have far too many protections. We need certain automatic evictions on non-after 60?days, no LTB involved.

This is ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING IN THIS ECONOMY?!!! Where it should be about helping and working with? Not punishing the renter!

Obviously, tenants not paying rent on time wouldn’t be a problem if landlords weren’t allowed to raise the rent on a 2018+ place from 1,000 per month to 10,000 per mouth within a single year, with zero repercussions on the landlord for doing so. Also, it takes time to move, so even if the tenant moves because the landlord raises the rent, if they can’t move, the rent becomes backlogged without any fault on the tenant. I luckily don’t have a douchy landlord, but so many others aren’t as lucky.

I’ve read some of these comments. I don’t understand why people are getting so upset. What about the landlord who’s not getting his rent!!! They might have a mortgage on the property that is being rented out. Pay your rent on time and you’ll have nothing to worry about. It’s literally as simple as that. 🤨

What about serious maintenance never touched if in bldg for couple of more years? What about the extremely old Toxic Materials from a 17, 18 Century bldg with wood that old, mold, mildew and no insulation properly in place, extremely cold..

This is what happens when people started taking advantage of a tenant first system. Now a single mother will end up on the street because some people wanted to not pay rent month after month and smirk knowing the LTB was backed up.

Good tenants like myself have no worries with these changes. Rents always there takes care of the unit as if I owned it. The owner gets things fixed when needed. And we are on the best of terms they even love my dog 🐶

Ontario needs rent control put back, and get a handle on home prices....it has become a sellers market and a rent / eviction free for all!
yes you must be responsible for your mortgage / rent. But shit happens...waiting for unemployment, waiting for work sick benefits, getting accepted for welfare or family benefits...these must be considered before eviction.....life isn't always inlign! if rental companies and mortgages worked with actual people better solutions would solve alot of problems...this is a world of uncertainty and we should all be working together to make intelligent solutions. Ford, working with all Ontario Mayors need to make this happen ...the PC Government removed the rental cap...they need to put it back !!!!! its not rocket science ...its slowing things down, and letting Ontarians have a fair and reasonable chance at surviving all the Governmenal mistakes that were never there choices!
