yall have to realize its gonna be really uncanny for a dog to see a stuffed version of its species, this is why they may get agressive or confused because its supposed to be a dog but doesn't look like one. a nice dog can still be friendly and then get agressive at a stuffed dog. this should be common sense its literally equivalent to people who fear mannequins or life sized dolls.

I honestly thought dogs were so much smarter than they actually are, then I started working at a shelter and started doing stuffed dog tests and was like woah! Even the smartest breeds like mals and border collies definitely think stuffed dogs are real at first, especially because we rub real dog scents on ours lol

My dog used to think a picture of a dachshund on a bag was a real dog and he’d loose his mind every time he saw it especially if he was in his crate.

We have a life size caribou statue in one of our parks and I like evening walks... my poor big scary husky mix was terrified of it. I brought him back during the daytime to properly check it out but he doesnt really trust it even now.

my Aussie puppy is hilarious. He views statues with deep suspicion. He doesn't seem to think they are normal people or animals and can't figure out what's wrong with them

my sweet chocolate lab thought our friend was trying to kill our whole family because he was wearing a motorcycle jacket. she was ready to take him out until he took it off. then she was fine. can confirm that dogs are not that bright.
