As a young adult, my parents were very wealthy, and they paid for everything - college, and so on - but they would do everything in their power to make it difficult for me to earn my own money. I was not allowed to drive the car, even though they told me I would get the car when I got my license. They would not let me go to college locally, I had to be on-campus. So I was stuck on a commuter campus, 200 miles away, I was not eligible for on-campus work study, I did not have a reliable form of transportation. I was expected to live on $30 every other week as allowance. It wasn’t until they caved with giving me the car until I had to start completing my required internships, and not having transportation was going to start compromising my graduation. No one really sympathized with this because they thought I was being coddled with a free education, but I had no way of earning my own money and savings. This was about control and that was it.

Sometimes they don't charge rent or ask for anything. But there's always an "emergency" that requires your money, time and labour. They don't want you to have a life of your own....its always about control.

my dad hide the child support he's getting from me ans my brother and is charging him rent on top of that, we had to pay for all our own stuff too, I don't pay because I got kicked out but he'd let his wife take our money as punishment. I don't feel guilty about not loving him

I was an eldest daughter whos parentified with little to no social skills/life (nvrmind emotional neglect cause of their emotional immaturity) and only talk to me when I mentioned my career plans. so all that pay them?? nah

Yes ima single mom with a child, living back at her place. She has disability and gets money from her husband sometimes etc. She gets money from but my siblings no kids she doesn’t ask for money from?? Puts me down the most it’s so hard

My mom essentially wanted me to take care of her after my father died my mom couldn't pay rent on her own when I was a teenager and we were homeless for years. My mother even tried to steal my survivor's benefits but I had already had a job and a bank account so it automatically went into my bank and not to her and then she decided to kick me out of the house I was 17. Then I went to college my mother ended up moving into a new house she came to my college dorm asking me for rent for a house that I didn't even live in. 😳😳😳😳
