@k.kiumbe: Commercial AI is only 3 years old. The car took until 1886 to go commercial. The airplane, 1914. Both had a century to mature. AI hasn’t even had ten years. It’s still a toddler. But this toddler is already doing research, transforming medicine, and reshaping how wars are fought — from rooms, not just battlefields. Kenya lives in this same global space. The question isn’t if AI is coming. It’s already here. Are we building with it — or waking up years behind? We don’t have a hundred years to catch up this time. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #KenyaTech #FutureOfWork #fypシ
Try checking out the paper "Attention is all you need" by Google. The improvement is not as much, we are still largely at the same but with better graphics. Until now, Moravec's paradox still holds, since the 70s. Intelligence is not only about calculating large numbers but perceiving reality.

You are only terrified because you know about the tools. 90% of the population have no idea whats happening in the AI world.. and to use your analogy Vehicles did not replace drivers neither did they drive away donkey driven carts

That’s part of the reason I’m buying land and building a house, because when AI displaces people I want to have a roof over my head.

AI research started in 1956. so ine the years we have been developing and experimenting different architectures from machine learning, deep learning up until 2017 when transformer architecture was introduced by researchers working at google brain. investment in AI boomed in 2020s.

Claude is bad news. there are very many industries that will be affected by AI so many. it's good for everyone to analyse where they stand and study how it could replace their jobs

Eng Kev, I buy what Elon says: in 2036 money will not matter because AI and Robots will provide more goods and services than humans will need; so what will you need money for? I use AI to get 1000 emails and send bulk emails in less than 3 hours, without AI I would need 50 writers to write 20 emails everyday if one email is half a page or 150 words. You are from the writing industry, if I were to pay 300 per page it would cost me 150,000 everyday, but my hosting cost is like 25 bob a day with AI. Think of what will happen to health, transport, etc. Ni mbaya!!!

We should remain curious. We should start thinking of bringing impossibilities to life. We should think of digitising local markets. Before it gets more expensive, let's keep building.

Who will buy products if people don't have jobs? It will come a time they have to control it and focus on humans.

Agreed,First out will be the snobbish office types who have no practical skills, that includes developers.
GoK workers and unionized workers will fight politically..Ai / robots will be banned as a campaign pledge🙆

AI replacing jobs in Africa? Not so fast. 🛑
While the West worries about automation taking over desk jobs, Africa's biggest employment sectors are agriculture, informal trade, and hands-on services. You can’t prompt an LLM to harvest crops, fix plumbing, or run a local kiosk!
Plus, with massive infrastructure gaps like unstable power and patchy internet, we’re a long way from total AI displacement. Real impact here isn't about job-killing chatbots—it’s about building offline tools that solve actual survival problems, like farming and local trade.
What's your take—are we hyping the threat too much?
