@interestingengineering: IBM has connected and cooled two modular cryogenic systems into a single environment for the first time, at its lab in Yorktown Heights, New York. The box-shaped modules stand more than 8 feet tall and 8 feet wide combined, reach 4 Kelvin in under five days, and settle below 15 millikelvin. It is a step toward Starling, the fault-tolerant quantum computer IBM plans to deliver in 2029.
