@gossipmilltv: Just in: See The Moment A Gen Z Graduate Trainee Of UBA banking school Stood Up and Publicly Addressed The CEO Of UBA Tony Elumelu By his First Name “TONY” and Tony Elumelu corrected her immediately; “You will not call me that address me” as “Chairman” or “Mr Elumelu” I don’t subscribe to that kind of Oyinbo life
She was suppose to be sent out of the conference hall

if Tony had this kind of conference in UK US or other similar countries, he won't have any problems with such address.. the difference is the location.

People that are saying, if it is UK… If it is this…. Do you watch Korean movies and see how respectful they are. Nigerian youths will be copying rubbish.

You people saying it’s normal is really irking me!!!! “If it’s in the US or Uk” yen yen. There’s nowhere in this world where you address a person who you don’t have relationship, especially when it is a panelist you have a question for!!!!!! Where has that ever happened. To be on a first name basis with anyone you must have had some sort of relations with them. Graduate trainee program or not! This lady has no single relations with this man and for Gods sakes you’re asking a panelist a question!!!!!

😂 Guys chill, The graduate trainee isn’t wrong. Tony is his name, and addressing him as Tony is not inherently disrespectful. If Tony attended a conference in the UK, US or Canada and a young professional addressed him by his first name, nobody would be calling for the person to be sacked or thrown out of the room.

Am suprised to see some of you compare her to the British people, hello ?…. We are in Nigerians and it in our culture to address people who’s older than you with respect, the same way Korean people need to bow to say hello same way we adress with respect…. This is Nigeria not America!!!

Calling someone by their first name in a corporate setting isn’t automatically disrespectful. If he prefers "Mr Elumelu" or "Chairman," that’s fine, but the girl wasn’t necessarily wrong for assuming first name culture was acceptable.

Let’s be realistic this is Nigeria, it’s wrong to address your elders with their first name so she was wrong calling him Tony, Mr Tony would have been better.
