@girlthepoet: #creatorsearchinsights Stop reaching out first and notice how quickly the relationship turns into no contact. One of the most painful realizations when dealing with an avoidant attachment style is discovering that the connection may have been surviving primarily because YOU kept initiating it. You sent the first text. You checked in. You restarted conversations after they went quiet. You asked when you would see each other again. You repaired the distance. You kept creating opportunities for connection while the dismissive avoidant or fearful avoidant kept withdrawing. Then one day, you stop. Not as a manipulation. Not to make your avoidant ex chase you. Not as a strategy to trigger their fear of losing you. You simply stop doing both people’s emotional labor. And suddenly, there is silence. That silence can tell you something important about the anxious avoidant dynamic: sometimes what felt like mutual connection was actually being maintained by one person’s constant pursuit. This is why no contact with an avoidant can feel so devastating. You may realize that the moment you stopped chasing, checking in, reassuring, initiating, and accepting breadcrumbs, the relationship stopped moving. If someone only stays connected to you when you’re doing all the reaching, you’re not experiencing consistency. You’re experiencing a connection that requires you to continually prevent its disappearance. Stop reaching out first and observe what happens. Sometimes you don’t have to officially initiate no contact. You simply stop chasing, and discover that you were the only reason there was contact at all. I stopped reaching out after my dad died because I was there for him when his dad died and he vanished when my dad died. 9 months of no contact and he hasn’t reached out. Feels like nothing I did or provided for him mattered.
