@caspiro.film: My Home Is a Railway Carriage With a Second Room Dug Into the Hill I had a truck crane lower an old passenger railway carriage onto four concrete pads with its right side pressed tight against a steep earth bank, guided it in by hand and levelled it — and after that everything was done with hand tools alone. I reglazed its windows, rolled the whole body dark green, sealed the joint against the soil, put a solar panel on the roof and built a little porch. Then came the part everyone asks about: I cut a doorway straight through the carriage's right-hand wall with a grinder and dug it on into the packed earth behind, hollowed out a second room in the bank and propped its ceiling with timber. Only then did I finish the carriage itself — insulated floor, framed and boarded walls, a narrow kitchen under the windows. The dug-out room became a full bathroom: trench, drain pipe, gravel, membrane, insulated walls, tiles, panels and fixtures.#Home #DIY #construction #timelapse #building
