@nikotinebeirut: E3tazalt l Gharam by Majida, re-interpreted by Nikotine Beirut in English, in glam rock style. . As a Lebanese artist and cabaret performer, Nikotine Beirut revisits the Arab world's most famous songs that she grew up with in Lebanon, and sings them in her own voice, with a but of a twist. . Nikotine Beirut, born and raised in Lebanon, is a music artist, a cabaret performer, and a mukhannath. المخنث. . What is a Mukhannath? The traditional Arab third-gender that was popular and respected in the medieval and Umayyad world of Arabia almost 1,000 years ago. . Third gender musicians, born male and living in femininity, were respected poets and artists and sang in political courts and public gatherings often. Their legacy was forgotten, and their name became a slur. . Nikotine Beirut reclaims the term, a thousand years later, as a modern Mukhannath performer. . She will be releasing her original music soon, stay tuned! . #music #arab #lebanon #beirut #موسيقى
