I used to be the "show up an hour early to be at the front of the line". Now I'm a "leave 5 minutes after school ends and the line is almost gone". I barely have to wait and my daughter is glad to not have to rush to the car line.

Legitimately curious - why don’t kids take the bus anymore? I can’t imagine lining up when I can just pick them up at the bus stop.

My husband used to go an hour before and they would give him stickers for being first in car line 😂 our friends husband waits until the end so he can just fly through lol i guess it’s just that serious 😂

We just built a brand new elementary School in our town, it puts the three elementary schools that we had scattered around town into one spot three big buildings, one small parking lot one small street going around. The first day is Monday it's going to be a shit show.

I do it to take a break from my day. It’s like an excuse to stop what you’re doing and relax before the second part of your day begins. I watch a show on my phone or listen to my audiobook

I passed by my kids school one day at 2:07 (dismissal is 3:25) and they already had people in line. I used to go around 230 and let my baby nap but then as he got older he stopped napping and complained non stop so I started going around 320 and guess what, they only get in the car not even 5 min later than they used to. It moves very fast

last year i went to pick up my daughter for an appointment, I got to the school around 230ish there was already people lining up.... they actually blocked me in thankfully one person figured it out and threw their truck in reverse😂 they don't let out till 330 😵💫😵💫

The gate for my daughter’s school opens at 2:45. I get there at 1:30 and I’m usually 4th or 5th in line 😅 I’d rather sit there and work on something in my car and be able to grab her and get outta there otherwise we get stuck behind all the buses

I unfortunately have to be at the school right at pick up for my youngest cause he's in the special education class and has to be picked up inside the school. My oldest likes to walk home though. I get my youngest 15 minutes before school is let out, then stand on the porch and wait for the oldest to get home.

With my youngest, I would get to the school parking lot 45 mins early to get parking so I could walk to her and get her. I would sit in the car and read. This year, we tried the school line, I leave the house 10 mins before the bell and still wait 30 mins to get her in the line. I’m trying to figure out what the good time is to just swoop her up.

This is why my kid goes to latchkey or rides the bus 💪 I am getting a workout in and getting stuff done. And he loves playing etc.

I get to my kids school 30 minutes early so I can be one of the first few in line and read a book in the car 😂 my kids haul ass to get out and to my car or else we’ll be stuck in traffic forever

My kids dismiss at 3:25. Back when I had to pick them up (I teach at their school now) I would leave my house at 3:19. Get to the car line at dismissal time, and got home at the same time as when I was getting in line at 2:30.
