What this doesn’t represent is that a shoe moves with your foot. The shoe is not stationary. This trend makes no sense.

I always hate how my shoes have too much room in the beginning but a few hours later they feel perfect bc of the extra room

I fit shoes for a living. the general rules we go by are: at LEAST a sideways thumbnail between the end of the longest toe and the end of the shoe, touching the sides of the shoe but not pressing out past the sole of the shoe, and there shoe be some natural heel movement but not enough that it feels like you'll kick the shoe off. this will be a different size in most types of shoes. the number does not matter
